DISCOVERY//LET US OPEN OUR EYES

People seek new experiences and new ideas all the time; and when we look at this desire to encounter new things, we see the evidence of humanity's desire for discovery. A desire that always asks for a different spin or a varied view. I came across this statement for which I am grateful.
"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."
[Marcel Proust - French Novelist]
I believe that our pursuit for new comes with the tagline, "have you looked at it this way before?" Is the beauty, the creative flow, the discovery, nestled in the expression and character of the people we see all the time or in the celebrity or speaker that we long to hear? Sometimes, I think I am better off with the well-known speaker or the celebrity, but really, I am better off to change the way I view those closest to me.
I want new eyes all the time because I desire to look at things that some call 'simple', 'boring', and 'worthless' and see an entirely different set of values. Like an algebraic equation, I want the 'variables' to be the point were I choose to see a different outcome and ultimately discover what I set out to see.
