An Open Way Of Living One's Life

I hope you find today to be an encouraging addition to your life. I know that lots of people see today as a waste or a problem, but I hope your outlook is open to a different way. Here's what I would like to share today. It's from Matthew Five.

"Let me tell you why you are here. You're here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You've lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage. Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

Dude, that is soooo good. I particularly appreciate the part about being generous with our lives. So many times we think that by giving away our lives we'll lose them. It's sooo the opposite. When we give our lives away, God gives us our lives back, even more abundantly than before. How abundant of a life do you think ours could be if we would continually give them away and allow God to keep upping the return abundance? It's exciting to think about, because my life is already filled with an abundance of blessing. Thinking that it could be even more abundantly blessed makes me eager to give more. I read a story of a business man who commited to faithfully give back that which God had blessed his business with. The more his business prospered, the more he gave. At the end of his life, he was giving 80% of his money away and still was abundantly wealthy. We cannot out-give God yo!
