More People Equals Pay Attention

One can make many assumptions as to what is happening, where we are going, who we are connecting with when we bring up topics like people, relationship, and God's plan for the human race. When I saw an article about the potential of a baby boom again, I decided to look at it from a less obvious point of view or a different perspective [Check out the article here]. Maybe some of the babies were products of a rape. Maybe some were 'unplanned'. But choices were made that saved those lives. And their was probably so much opportunity to judge those decisions, but again, mercy overcame. Mercy was God's decision. And He decided the best way to describe mercy was to send someone who would show mercy. Hosea 6:6 says, "For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings." With the rise of babies being born, I think God would want us to look upon the life that is apparent before us. The potential each of us have to love and be merciful to a counter-merciful way of life. I'm all for sacrificing some money for the panhandler or the homeless, but if I neglect to extend mercy, I'm screwed. God's way is mercy over sacrifice. Shouldn't that be the way I choose? Shouldn't that be the strength of my choice over the weakness of my passivity? Doesn't love rejoice when truth is the outcome.

Yesh - That's so good. When I was in Sacramento with Times Two back in April, we got the privelige to listen to Graham Cooke all weekend. He asked everybody this question (paraphrased): "Did God exert enough judgement on Jesus when he was crucified? Did Jesus pay a high enough price for our sin?" The answer was an obvious yes. What Graham asked, then, was this: "If God poured ALL of his judgement out on Jesus, then what is left? Grace. Mercy. Love. Compassion. If God has no more judgement against us, then what business do we have in passing judgement on others? NONE! Our job is not to rail against sin or to judge others based on the choices of their parents. God already dealt with sin. We are to spread LOVE,JOY,PEACE,PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, AND SELF-CONTROL. What would our lives look like if those 9 things were our main objective?
