Words With Winston

So I have gotten quite a bit done today. Some food shopping for the next few days [lunch materials]. Some truck repairs [lights, filters, cleaning, etc.]. Some emails, both ongoing & new conversations. Some thinking [yeah, I need some time for that too]. And some quotation searching, which helps me think a bit differently from time to time. I guess it's kinda like a check to see if I am thinking creativitely or redundantly; thinking past or future. I respect the fact that people have labored before me and I want to take in all that I can and apply it so that I build on what others have started or laboured for. I definitely want to build on what Christ has built for me. He has made me such an irresistible deal that if I diregarded it, I would be officially and legally retarded and lame. I have no other sane choice and I am very happy about that. So here are a few things Sir Winston Churchill said that take me back to the basics again.

  • "All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope." [emphasis added]
  • "However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results."
  • "Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb."
