We're All [EVERYONE] In This Together
Tonight was the first time the whole team for repossess was together. It was rad to be with one another and to hear what came out of everyone musically. We intentionally came into the night with no agenda, no set-list, no alterior motive, but to bring a yearning heart and gift to Christ who has so wonderfully reach into our lives through music and its beautiful qualities. It really blessed me to see 'the family unit' work together, in and out, up and down, slower and faster, to offer up a picture or snapshot of whats going on inside of us; the hearts desire to express something great to a great God. There seems to be no greater privilege. Oh, and we shunned religious expression by playing a few new songs from the Coldplay album, Viva La Vida. Some things are 100 % bad [you'll know it when the truth is in you], but drawing a line between secular and christian is just about the saddest thing the church has done. From where I stand, there are so many people in the world that desire to create something thats good, thats of worth. I believe that God is pouring Himself out in so many ways with such variety [Check Out Ephesians 3:10 In Regards To Variety From God.] And I think God is just as into Coldplay as He is into Hillsong United. Sure, one of them is clearly leading people into direct expression with Jesus, but both are representing the creativity that can only come from something living and good. God is after the hearts of His people and I believe He will use the foolish things, the overlooked, the hidden, the secret, the simple to show us the way to His son, Jesus. Our God is good like that.
