What causes faith to come and grow inside of those who ask for it? The Word. Paul writes in
Romans 10:17-18 that faith comes by Hearing and Hearing by the Word of God. So its saying that faith will come when we HEAR and HEARING will come when the Word is present. The Word teaches us what frequency we are supposed to listen too. It teaches us what frequencies lead to less faith, like fear for example. I love to listen to new things, sounds, people, ambience, etc. It helps me define what my response should be when I really focus on the listening part. Today, I experimented with my drums by setting them up with the following pieces: Hi-hats, Crash/Ride Cymbal [One Cymbal], Snare, Hi-Tom, and Kick Drum. That may sound like alot, but in reality its much less than normal and can be a challenge to get the sound that you want. I had a blast. I was learning to listen for combinations and different ways to play the pieces to achieve some unique sounds. In verse eighteen of the same passage, Paul quotes saying, "Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world." It makes me think of the possibilities we have yet to unlock and release to the world. The sounds, the creativity, the action. Maybe the universe is responding to what it hears us speak and create with a twinkle of star here and the explosion of a star there. Who knows? Alas, I must create.
