I just caught an article through google's blog and it has sparked some interest from me for a few reasons [check out the full article
here]. First, I have considered the effect of something like this and how it would create a central hub of ideas and unity. And second, I believe that the internet is getting so big that we need systems like this to "bring people together." Basically, google is making it possible for web users of all different backgrounds [social networks, email groups, etc.] to access google features and its very powerful web network with their various internet i.d.'s. I think there is a lot of potential in this idea because it has now become much easier to connect with huge pools of committed users. I think its a great example of how we can bridge our reach and networks with the local church. For example, I think we can do a better job at connecting people who don't have the same "i.d." that we require. I belive that we can work closer with other local churches to go beyond our basic regional conference or worship night. And by doing so, I also believe that a unity of this type would bring about amazing results like life stories that you've never heard, stronger small groups, and a greater awareness and urgency for a local communities needs. I know its possible.
