Stay Versatile My Friend

I love that music and it's implementation into live performances has really started to take on a different look. These guys from Mute Math really take showmanship and involvement to the next stage. Every member of mute math has at some point been a drummer either professionally or by amateur desire. They are able to switch instruments throughout a show thus allowing each guy to express individual creativity, but still maintaining unity of sound. In the context of the local church [since I enjoy relating whats happening in the world to the church and vice versa], it really draws a clear picture of how we can be more effective by doing what we do with excellence and passion, but allowing ourselves to learn other positions or functions that will help the whole body get where it needs to go. It helps the church if I know how to set up a stage for worship! It helps the church if I know how to follow directions in regards to setting up a room for a ministry meeting. We are all teachers and students and I think its great that a band can teach us that versatility helps everyone.

Good insight Josh! This is really helpful. If we get too specialized we begin to say things like "that's not my job!" Love reading your thoughts on this blog!

Bruv that was incredible!!!! How inspiring. For we as musicians, it's so easy to settle into that "this is what we do" kind of rut. Even as good as our worship is, dude let's explore. If you're down for that I'm down for that. Next level broha! Next level....
