Being With Jesus
God's Word is absolutely, completely, and undoubtedly saturated with life, power and love each time my eyes are upon it. Its really like breathing all over again. I read a bit of Acts today and Chapter Four Verses Thirteen [read the passage here] really brought encouragement to me; another answer to a question that I find myself asking from time to time.- These guys [Peter & John] are being threatened to never speak the name of Jesus at all.
- Everyone is perceiving that they do not have formal training or education by Jewish standard.
- They are shocked to see men speak with such boldness about such matters when they are not up to par with the cultural norms of training.
- Then a light bulb goes off. They realize that both of these men had been with Jesus. Now, we know that they had been with Jesus in person, but what about the continuation of Jesus and the Holy Spirit teaching these guys [the day of pentecost has already happened]. I believe these guys are continuing in what their master and teacher taught them to do. They are still finding themselves with Jesus.
- Imagine this: You've [Peter & John] spent a few years with the Saviour of the world. You've touched, heard, seen, & been loved by this guy. Now you find yourself doing what He did. Healing the sick, loving people, sharing with the community. They are still finding their friend in the midst of helping people.
I belive in education and learning and I believe that knowledge is greatly important [Hosea 4:6]. I even plan to finish my degree in the next few years. But NOTHING will ever be more important that being with Jesus; to the point that christians AND non-christians alike will undoubtedly know where I have been. And there really is no place greater than being with the One who has loved me before I had a name, before I became a musician, before I accepted Him, before I read His word, before I ever sung a worship song. And once again, nothing will change His love.
